Long Live the Maxi Skirt

written by Tonya Evans April 9, 2017

As a stylist, I love to keep up with the latest trends to find pieces for my clients and little gems that keep them both classic and current. After checking out the shows, I always like to see if the trends I select for each season are featured on the top lists each season.

The collections for Spring/Summer 2017 were beautiful…with lots of choices for women that are fun, flirty and feminine. My must haves for the season include a off-the-shoulder, is any and everything off the cold shoulder, brights shades of yellow and hot pink and lots of stripes.

The off the shoulder look is for those that want to bare all and those a little less daring. The look is ageless and adored in simple stripes or added rows of ruffles. The season’s nautical stripes are found on pants and blouses that are big and bold or thin lines.

Demure dresses were dripping in bright colors of hot pink, yellow and green. Simple lines and no frills up the ante on sophistication and make these super brights easy to wear.

My style philosophy is to build on classic, timeless pieces. So I love when classics like khaki make an appearance – khaki was a reimagined on every runway this. Another mainstay for me is the maxi skirt which is flattering and flowing {and hides a lumps and bumps}.  Maxi skirts are the ultimate in comfort and cool. Perfect for a hot summer day of errands or a shopping and lunch with a friend. The easy piece can be worn with a tank, makes an ideal swim cover up and makes the transition from poolside to a resort a breeze.

Every season brings with it lots of choices. Trends are made for you to try…have fun but never forget to stay true to what makes you look and feel your best.
