Kimono for all and all should have one

written by Tonya Evans May 30, 2017

Originally, “kimono” was the Japanese word for clothing. But in more recent years, the word has been used to refer specifically to traditional Japanese clothing and has exploded as a must have piece for every it girl.

Whether it’s the street style at Coachella or the fashionable streets of NYC, kimonos are really an I gotta have it item. Here’s why:

  1. First, it hides a ‘multitude of sins.’ I got my first kimono after having my daughter. I loved the way it made me feel like I was floating across the room and glided across my body. When your feeling a little less fit or want to hide a bump or 2 this piece is for you.
  2. It is an absolute showstopper. There is no chance they’ll look away. When you show up wearing a kimono you make a grand, elegant entrance and turn all eyes on you boo.
  3. I surprised by the versatility of the kimono. You can pair it with jeans, drape it over a cocktail dress or add a little more coverage over summer short shorts. It’s one of the first items I pack – the perfect answer when you don’t know what you’ll wear.

I had to have this version from beautiful blue version Free People. That one’s gone {sorry, not sorry}. But don’t let turn you blue, here are few more options that I like. Come on…ride the kimono train.
